To: V.P. Smirnov
Director of Sosny R&D Company
Dear Mr. Smirnov,
Under government contract for decommissioning of the Floating Maintenance Base Lepse signed by Rosatom State Corporation and Sosny R&D Company, necessary documents were developed and special canisters were fabricated for transportation of damaged spent fuel assemblies from the Lepse SNF storage tank as part of the work entitled "Fabrication of a set of canisters for cutout SFA storage tubes and SFAs removed from the caissons in the Lepse storage tank". Handling the Lepse SNF will involve the ChT-14u and ChT-14l canisters fabricated by Sosny R&D Company.
The state-of-the-art fabrication capabilities, highly skilled personnel, and well-managed workflow enabled Sosny R&D Company to complete the contractual work six months before the due time.
Sosny's contribution to the Lepse decommissioning project will allow retrieval of the spent fuel assemblies from the Lepse storage tank, sending them to Mayak PA for reprocessing and complete elimination of one of the most nuclear-hazardous facilities in North-West region of the Russian Federation.
I express my gratitude to Sosny staff for delivering high-quality work on development and fabrication of the Lepse SNF handling equipment. And what is remarkable is the comprehensive approach your Company takes to addressing challenges facing the Russian nuclear industry.
