On June 29, the International Conference on Fast Reactors and Related Fuel Cycles was closed in Yekaterinburg. The conference became an important site to exchange information on international cooperation and national programmes related to exploration and development of new generation of safer, more environment-friendly and economically attractive reactors based on fast spectrum neutrons. More than 700 delegates and four international organizations attended the conference. The conference was held by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supported by ROSATOM State Corporation.
Sosny R&D Company, in cooperation with its Russian and foreign partners, submitted a paper on the key features of design, manufacturing and implementation of laboratory and industrial equipment for Mixed Uranium – Plutonium Oxide (MOX) and Nitride fuel pellets fabrication in Russia.
The paper is based on the experience in design and manufacture of the process equipment for nitride fuel fabrication accumulated by Sosny R&D Company while working in PRORYV project, one of the objectives of which is to create the Pilot Demonstration Power Complex (PDPC) with BREST-OD-300 reactor on SGChE site. The PDPC includes also a facility to fabricate mixed nitride uranium-plutonium (MNUP) fuel for this reactor and a spent fuel reprocessing facility.
