In early August 2020, Sosny completed mounting and adjustment of the equipment for the I&C unit of the VVER-1200 FA inspection and repair stand that makes part of Unit 1 of the Belarusian NPP (https://www.atomic-energy.ru/BelarusNPP).
In cooperation with Gidropress Design Bureau, Podolsk, and Afrikantov Experimental Design Bureau for Mechanical Engineering, Nizhny Novgorod, Sosny R&D Company has developed and fabricated equipment for VVER SFA inspection and repair stands since 2009. The inspection and repair stands are an integral part of the NPP-2006 project that involves new knock-down fuel assemblies. They are designed to provide data on the post-operation health of the fuel assemblies, a search and replacement of the fuel rods, and finding causes of failure.
The work had helped to timely commission Unit 1 at the Belarus BPP that is being constructed under the Generation 3+ project.
The plans are to put Unit 1 of the Belarusian NPP into operation in the first quarter of 2021.
